Strategic versus Business Plans
Key to every successful business is planning. You need two types of plans; a strategic plan (internally focused) and a business plan (externally focused).
Both plans must be simple, easy to understand, and actionable. Once you have produced a good strategic plan, 80% of the material that goes into the business plan is in hand. With a little extra effort you’ll easily produce the business plan.
Synergic prides itself on working with you to generate plans that are useful, effective, and, when followed, generate positive results.
Strategic Plans
A Strategic Plan includes a company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives. The process used to generate a good strategic plan should ideally include all levels of your organization thereby facilitating communication and building alignment. The strategic and business plans are, in fact, the roadmap that you and your employees will follow to achieve success.
A good strategic planning process should include at least the following elements:
- Mission and vision statements describing what your company does and where you are going.
- Strategic Analysis that might include an environmental assessment, a SWOT analysis (An analysis of your company’s internal and external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats), and/or an organizational assessment.
- Competitive analysis - an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of current and potential competitors.
- Goals and Objectives – High level statements of what is to be achieved in each area of your business along with specific and measureable statements of what is to be done, when, and by whom.
- Financial plan that describes where the economic resources will
come from and how they will be allocated to achieve given goals and
objectives.
Having an experienced outside facilitator lead your team through the process brings not only objectivity and outside perspective, but also contributes to an efficient and effective use of your team member’s time. Synergic’s experienced facilitators are ready to lead you in this critical endeavor.
